The School of Dance (established in 1972) is located in a BRAND NEW studio in the lower level suites located at Foothill Village.
With over 10,000 square feet and 5 premium studios, this school teaches dancers from the ages of 2.5 up.
The dance studio offers a non-competitive dance class environment for dancers of all skill levels in multiple genres of dance training, technique and performing opportunities for toddlers, kids and adults. Dance classes offered range from learning in preschool camps and classes, pre-kindergarten movement, toddler dance classes, ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, acro (acrobatics & tumbling), & breaking (break dancing) in recreation dance classes and by audition into more advanced performing groups.
YEAR ROUND DANCE CLASS PROGRAMMING
The School of Dance rec classes serve students from the ages of 2.5-18. Performing groups are for the dancers looking to advance in their technique and perform. Performing groups are broken into the genres of Hip Hop and Classical. Hip Hop Crew focuses on advancing your dancers in both hip hop and breaking (break dancing) genres, while the Classical Company focuses on training dancers in Ballet, Jazz, Acro & Contemporary. For those dancers looking to transition into dancing at the college level, the school will be launching an elite Company that combines both of the company and crew opportunities for the 2024-2025 Dance season by audition only.
The school prides itself in being a mental health advocate first, with body positivity and a mission where everyone belongs here at The School of Dance. The school looks forward to engaging with dancers all across the Salt Lake Valley, and have dancers traveling from as far as Provo & Centerville to dance with them!
The school is easily accessible via the East I-215 Belt route, just minutes off the exit, as well as I-80 East Foothill Exit.
SUMMER PROGRAMMING
FREE SUMMER PROGRAMMING • The Summer Programming supports free dance in the Libraries across multiple Branches of the Salt Lake Public Library System for both Hip Hop/Breaking & Story Magic (The little dancer story book dance program).
REC DANCE CLASSES
The summer Rec Dance Classes support students returning and new in all of the school’s dance offerings for a limited set of weeks from June to August. They understand families have travel plans and are flexible with summer scheduling to accommodate family plan.
SUMMER CAMPS
If summer dance classes aren’t going to work for your summer schedule, the school has shorter camps in week long increments that you can register for – both in the mornings and afternoons – as well as workshops and intensives for more advanced dancers. Camps run Monday-Thursday and can be registered a week at a time. Intensives are 3 Days and run all day for more advanced dancers.
COMMUNITY & EVENTS
The school hosts invitational Breaking Battles quarterly with other local dance studios that support community, hip hop, break dancing & local small businesses. Additionally they do a themed party/gala for all students and friends, and lastly the many performances are both self hosted at the location in Foothill.
